Giant Food of Landover, Md. is extending its in-store giving campaign to benefit the USO of Metropolitan Washington and support military families across the Mid-Atlantic region.? Through April 6, Giant will sell CareOne Care Packages for our troops and accept monetary donations at check out to support USO-Metro programs and initiatives.

For $5, customers can purchase a CareOne Care Package, which contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, lip balm, hand sanitizer, and ibuprofen. USO-Metro will distribute CareOne Care Packages at airport lounges across the region as troops return home as well as deploy for service. Customers can also support military families by adding $1, $3, or $5 to their grocery bill at check out. Additionally, each neighborhood Giant will feature a station where children can make cards for service members. The campaign will continue in all 173 Giant stores through midnight on April 6, 2012.

Giant first partnered with the USO of Metropolitan Washington in March 2011 during its 75th?anniversary year. At the end of the month-long giving campaign, Giant delivered $108,000 and nearly 10,000 pounds of food to USO-Metro to?help support its programs and establish a food pantry at Fort Belvoir in Virginia.?Hundreds of soldiers received cards from children decorated with their original artwork and created at Giant?s card-making stations.
